Mom's with Cameras - DSLR workshops

So we have been doing some research on DSLR classes for Mom's. We found that there are a few photographers that hold classes, but the 2 that we have narrowed down to have either shot some of our children or some of us have taken a class or 2 from them. Here are our 2 options. Check out their blogs and vote on which one you would like to have hold a workshop for us. Both include all day instruction and lunch.
Option #1 - Christine Bentley https://www.christinebentleyblog.com/
Workshop cost $168 dollars. She can accomodate a weekend date that works for all of us. We will try to work around her schedule. She likes to keep her classes small to do one on one as much as possible... 5 people in each class. If there is alot of interest, she is willing to split it into 2 classes. For the more advanced Momtographer, she is willing to do an intermidiate class. Both feature a classroom portion, an on-location shoot, lunch and then editing.

Workshop cost $200. Her workshop will be sometime in May (a specific date has yet to be picked, she will notify us once she has chosen it, though I do believe it will be a weekend). Her class will accomodate 10 moms. It would be for beginners and feature a classroom portion, an on-location shoot, lunch and then editing.
Sorry this is soooo long. Look over the info and let me know your thoughts! Then we will go from there on which one to attend or if there are enough people interested in both, then we could probably do that too. Don't vote in the poll unless you are truly interested. Don't want to sway the decision with fans of either photographer but are not interested in taking the class. *wink*

I voted for Christine, just because her classes are smaller and it was slightly cheaper. I can be a needy student, and I like the idea of a more "one to one" atmosphere. Plus it sounds like a number of girls on here have already taken a class with Christine, and have nothing but good things to say.
Having said that, if Erin is willing to negotiate in price and/or class size, I would love to do a class with Erin. I loooove her work, she just isn't in my budget to hire as a photographer for my LO. I also like the idea of hiring a fellow nestie.
But in this economy, it's all about the most bang for my buck, and right now it seems like Christine is just offering more for less.
Good point APK! I know that Erin comes around here every once and a while, maybe she will see this! Its hard in this economy. I was just telling my husband that if we had Reese right now, I probably wouldnt be able to do newborn photos. I am sooo glad I did and I totally love them, but times are tough. I am sure all the local photographers have to be feeling it, for sure.

I am totally torn here because I LOVE LOVE LOVE Erins work. I actually bought her baby plan for Presley so I will be seeing her a couple more times and I think she's OOBER talented. I think Christines work is excellent as well, I've just never met her.
With that said, I totally see what APK is saying in terms of cost and class size. Maybe Erin could match it package for package and if there is enough interest in each, both photographers can be hired. Those that want to work with Erin, can work with her and those that want to work with Christine can work with her. There WAS a lot of interest in that original post so who knows.......
I was torn too because I have already taken the class with Christine, I dont' want to repeat it. So I was leaning toward Erin since her style would be new to me but price was the factor, plus I would like more of an intermediate level class.

hmm... well it looks like price is a main concern. I am torn because I want to take an intermediate class, not necessarily a beginner. I have taken a one on one with Christine and for me, she definitely taught me alot. My pictures before were heinous. I guess even from what the PP said, every experience is different. I am not sure if Wendy took the class one on one or with other couples or not. I think maybe when answering the poll, think about how you are a better learner. I did one on one with Christine and it benefited me greately. It was tailored to just me and I got some great shots of my daughter. But I paid alittle more. In a class of 20, I probably wouldnt have learned half of what I did because people have questions and needs different to mine. I think back to breastfeeding class. There was some bonehead couple in there giggling and not paying attention, asking stupid questions and wasting everyone's time. I learned the most when I went to Milkalicious and had a one on one.
FWIW, the poll looks split 50/50 at this point. Both photographers have agreed to do alittle something. When Erin releases her dates for the workshop, we will post the information on here and let people sign up. I think the same should go for Christine. Then people can decide what they want to do from there.
I would consider coming up for this. My pictures suck and after 3 years of owning the damn camera, it's time to learn to use it.
I have no idea who Christine is, so I am off to check the link. I like Erin's work, so it really doesn't matter to me.
After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!
I'm going with Kristine because
1. I want an intermediate class
2. Cheaper
3. I love her style
