Since we are letting it all hang out for our FFFCs today....
I am a gay-marriage supporting, extremely liberal, pro-choice, FF (not by choice), Pro-health care, EXTREMELY anti-death penalty, Episcopalian disability rights activist who hates racists, homophobes, and close-minded Christians.
Feel free to add your own!
Re: "Who I am in a nutshell" FFFC
I'm a supporter of all LGBT rights, I'm liberal on some political issues and somewhat conservative on others, I don't pay a lot of attention to what's happening in the government, I believe that the prison system should be harder on criminals (no cable TV, internet, etc.) and I do believe in the death penalty for some crimes/criminals.
I'm an Episcopalian who is a proud member of a reconciling ministry. I worked hard during college to help my college church group become a reconciling ministry. We welcome people from all walks of life, race, etc.
I don't hate anybody, but I believe that some people really need to open their minds and see things outside of their basic upbringing.
Huh. I always wonder the opposite: advocating giving someone a lethal injection is not exactly "pro-life."
Exactly! I wonder how people can say they're pro-"life" but support the death penalty. That's a huge oxymoron.
If you look at it either way...to me it doesn't make sense. Again, this is no flame...but pro-choice (it's ok to kill a baby who never had a chance), but anti-death penalty (its NOT ok to kill someone who made a choice and ended up in that situation).
I thought this would come up. I am pro choice, not pro death. I wish no one would have to be in the situation to have to choose to have an abortion, but I feel as a state, people should be given that ability to choose for themselves. Ive also had a friend who found out her baby was not viable and I would never have wanted her to have to carry that child to term, only to deliver it dead (again, I totally support people who choose this, but she shouldnt be forced to)
However, I do not see the point of the death penalty. I think that it doesnt do anything to deter crime. I believe in prision without parole, but needlessly killing someone in the name of "justice" isnt something I agree with. I also would rather let a million murderers and rapists sit in prison than execute one innocent person. Time has already shown that, even with DNA evidence, innocent people have died.
I understand...I'm pro-choice and for the death penalty, although I agree it really doesn't deter from crimes. Most of the time too, I think it would be better to let them sit and rot in prison for the rest of their lives, but...then the conservative comes out and me and I think...that's eating up a lot of tax payer dollars lol
I never said I was against all killing...I was just bringing up a curiousity...if you look, I posted that I am pro-choice and for the death penalty.
I hope you dont mind bantering with me
I think that with all the appeals done with death penalty cases (which I think SHOULD be allowed to prevent innocent executions), a ton of $$$$ is sucked up with court costs, prosecution costs, etc. Ive read statistics either way saying its more expensive to execute, more expensive for life in prison. I agree tho that prisons should be REFORMED! I had a student years ago who said his dad who lives in prison has a better life than him... and I believe him!!!
Oh I love a good banter. Lol. I don't pretend to know everything...so I don't take super strong stances on things I don't know everything about. Either way...it sucks that we have to pay for it all.
amen! lol
can we be friends? I agree with everything you just said.
Lol you would be my first friend on here
I just read my post and I sound like one of those Christians I complain about lol. I need to take a nap.
