I used it when I was about 13, but not since. I want my hair to be a little lighter for summer, but I don't want to pay for highlights. Anyone used Sun In?
I also used it back when I was 14, 15 and it turned my dark hair orange and I thought that was cool :-). They sell do it yourself highlight kits. My friend uses one by Clairol and they come out really nice.
I used some when I was a senior in high school. It was fine at first, but my hair got progressively drier and drier and finally my freshman year of college I had to get 10 inches of it cut off. The hairdresser told me that Sun-In uses a metal dye that stays on your hair, and every time your hair gets hot (the sun, blow dryer, curling/straightening iron), your hair gets dryer. My hair looked like HAY when I got it cut!
I wouldn't chance it. That stuff is horrible for your hair. Look up cosmetology schools in your area. They are typically pretty affordable since it's a student working on your hair. You get just get a partial foil and that would lighten it up quite a bit.
Re: Has anyone used Sun In hair lightener?
I didn't even know that Sun In was still around! I used it in high school. Ha ha!
If I were you I would get some professional highlights. They cost $, but Sun In actually does damage to your hair. It dries it out big time!
DON'T! DON'T! DON'T!
