Anyone have any experience with lupron as a trigger? My RE thinks that it will help prevent OHSS and that i will be in a lot less pain after ER if i use lupron as a trigger. Also what was your dose? Thanks!
I am confused. How could Lupron be used as a trigger. It is the opposite b/c it is a supressing drug. Maybe they meant kept you on Lupron until you trigger???
TTC#1 since 7/07 with MFI and Endo/PCOS
IUI #1 and #2 with 50mg of clomid= BFN
IUI#3 with 100mg of clomid and Bravelle= BFN
Lap surgery 11-18-09= found Stage IV Endo
Three months of Depot Lupron Shots and adding 2000mg Metformin
IVF w/ ICSI May 2010 = BFP, M/C at 6 weeks
Break to lose weight, down 60 pounds and gearing up for IVF #2 in August 2011

I don't quite understand it either but, when a certain dose of Lupron is given, it can act as a trigger.
The thought behind using it is that HCG makes OHSS worse so, if you are at a high risk for OHSS, trigger with HCG can make is that much worse so they aviod injecting HCG into the system.

Not sure either how it works but my RE said that i was at risk for OHSS and so he decided to use the Antagonist protocol so that i could switch to Lupron trigger if my levels were high.
I see Dr Gill @ HFI. I made a last minute switch from HIVF.
That was my clinic too! I LOVE them! I saw Dr. Witz!
I saw him at my appointment on Wednesday. He seems quite nice and level headed. I have had a great experience at the clinic so far and i pray it stays that way.

Let me know if you have any questions!
They have a great track record on this board!I really think it is their amazing embryologist that makes all of the difference! Good luck!
I did a Lupron trigger b/c I was overstimmed (we got 39! eggs at ER). I did 3/4 cc 12 hours apart. I was bloated and miserable, but after ER I started to feel better.
From what I understand, the Lupron trigger helps prevent OHSS because it destroys the corpus luteum instead of letting it hang around and secrete fluid.
DS #1 on the way after 2 cycles of ART (IVF+FET)
EDD 7/3/11
Very interesting. good to know. I am always learning from you ladies

I did it this time because IVF #1 i had OHSS and it sucked. I had my ER retrieval today and feel much better then the 1st time. My E2 was 4000+ less then the 1st time.

Re: Lupron Trigger
Kimarino did this with her first IVF I believe - not sure of the dose though. She did it for the same reasons you have mentioned.
I see you are in Houston - who is your RE (if you don't mind sharing)?

Glad to hear that you are feeling better.
