s/o 2nd time mamas & maternity clothes

It's way too early for me to actually buy maternity clothes yet, but thinking ahead...(and amuzing myself on a Friday...)

I've heard all sorts of mixed reviews about motherhood maternity.  I know the return policy is crap, but I'm curious about the quality of the clothing.  Is it really as bad as I'm hearing?

What are your favorite maternity stores/ sites?

TIA!

  • I think almost my whole maternity wardrobe last time was Old Navy.

  • I liked Motherhood's stuff, but I think I've only gotten a few things.  I think they try to get you to sign up for all kinds of emails and deals, but I declined everything.  I got most of my maternity clothes at Target or Kohl's.

  • I am not a second time mom, but all I can tell you from being in the store is that I thought the clothes were awful. I  mean, it was nice that there were SO MANY clothes, but most of them were like for women who got pregnant and give up on being a woman or fashionable.  Their bras made me want to kill myself!

  • I am not a 2nd time mom but I can give you my opinion on maternity clothes.  I started to wear the pants at 8-9 weeks due to bloat.  I did not see the point of buying bigger regular jeans since I would need mat. pants anyways.  I bought a few pairs at Kohls and really like them.  I have only bought one mat. shirt at Target and like it as well.  I did go to Motherhood Maternity and really liked a lot of their stuff.  The Target by me doesnt really have much in the line of maternity clothes same with Kohls (although Kohls does have pretty good prices).  So for me Motherhood has been the best place for me.  Prices are not crazy and they have many different styles of stuff to choose from.

Also forgot to add that Gap Maternity pants are the best!!!!

  • I hate MM.  Gap has the best pants, but they don't have a lot of tops to pick from.  I always see preg women dressed so cute and I wonder where they shop.

  • Loved the jeans I got from Target.

  • Motherhood quality is not great and its a little on the spendy side for what you get (and the return policy does suck) but I did get a couple pairs of pants and some shirts from them. I do love Old Navy for maternity clothes and you can always get stuff on sale.

  • some of there stuff is ok, some is not.  the big thing w/ quality i think is that it lasts 1 pregnancy.  by the end of 1 it's ready for the trash pretty much b/c it fades and pills.

this is my 2nd preg and i got rid of most of my stuff from ds so i needed more.  i got quite a few things from mm last weekend.  this is my last too though, so i don't care if it holds up for any others.

  • I love old navy's maternity clothes. But look for lightly used second hand stuff because if you think about it you really only use something for a few months then it doesnt fit again, so you can find really nice stuff from Pea in the Pod or other nicer stores for half the cost and no one is the wiser. With all the other things you have to buy it helped us out alot of save some that way! also alot of the new looks today are really baby bump friendly, so if i can help it i wont wear much maternity but look for things i can wear after baby is born too!

  • so far I haven't found anything I like at the Target by me.  OLd Navy clothes never really fit me right so I'm scared to try there.

I'm already in Motherhood maternity work pants and so far they are working out.  They are super comfy and I'm 5'3" so they had a perfect length for me.  I also bought some shorts on clearance at Macy's (they have Motherhood Maternitiy there too).

I'm determined to find some more affordable comfy clothes tho!  I heard Khols is good!

  • I don't love Motherhood.  Mostly because for me, their fit is funky.  I love Old Navy and I browse ebay for a lot of it :)

  • I second? third? fourth? Old Navy and Target. My Kohls is too small to have more than a couple things. Sometimes places like JCPennys has a little maternity section where I found my FAVORITE pair of maternity jeans last time.

Motherhood is just really overpriced and I hate their sales people. Plus once they get you to sign up for all the "free" stuff and contests they sell your info to EVERY COMPANY EVER and you'll be getting junk mail for the next 5 years. I had a real problem getting off some of their lists.
