would you have said something?

When I drive DS to preschool, there is a line of kids (from our preschool) walking to the elementary school. The teachers of DS's preschool walk these kids every morning (and back every afternoon).

The teacher uses a plain "STOP" sign. No reflective vest.

I can barely see her. Today I watched a car blow right through the crosswalk and thank goodness the kids hadn't stepped off the curb yet. The teacher yelled at the guy in the car, but honestly -- you can't really see them! Add in morning sun issues and I feel you have a disaster waiting to happen. I almost did it myself once.

I called the school this morning and talked to the admin assistant about it. The teacher needs to have a safety vest on that reflects and a BIG stop sign. She agreed and said she would tell the director. Would you have called? I feel like a paranoid mom.

  • I think when it comes to safety alway better to be over cautious.  I think you did the right thing by calling.  She may not realize that drivers can't see her and it is good to give them that information.

  • I would have called too. I live near a crosswalk right by the high school. The crossing guard does have the sign and vest and she seriously has a dangerous job ... drivers are crazy!
