Mom was locked out of the car

I pulled up in the parking lot and a mom was having a fit. She was desperately trying to her son to open the car door - she was locked out. He was up in the front seat, looked about maybe 3ish? The horn kept beeping so I'm guessing he kept pressing the lock button on the key fob or something.

I watched for a few seconds and then reached over and grabbed my snack from my lunch (a little 100 calorie package of cookies) and handed it to her to use as a bribe. It still took about another minute before she got into the car, too. Poor thing - I felt so bad for her!

Re: Mom was locked out of the car

  • LOL....why did you give her a snack?!?!

For some reason, this is really cracking me up!  Like I'm laughing uncontrollably right now.

Did she look hungry?  Was it to lure the kid?

Oh....I just reread.  It WAS for a bribe!  LOL!  OMG....I was thinking "how freaking random!"

Ok, sorry.  a little punch drunk appparently!  ;)

  • Oh wow. That was good thinking on your part. Nothing like cookies to bribe a child. I'm so glad A cooperated the one time I locked myself out of the car (and that she could unfasten her car seat).

  • LOL yeah Jodi, I was thinking, well she's going to be there a while and she'll probably get hungry! LMAO!
  • Good thinking!

The one time I locked DS in the van, it was running. Some moms told me if no one was close to come help me out to call 1-800-pop-a-lock. They put you at the front of the list when a child is involved and get you in the vehicle for free.

I will never forget this phone number!

Good to know! Ds locked me out once and I will never forget that.

  • That happened to me, but DD was strapped into her carseat and couldn't reach the lock to open it. I just called the police and they came to open it quickly.
