what does your LO do while you work out? we went to one gym, and since DD is only 7 months old, they said she would stay in her stroller the entire time she was in the nursery. is this normal practice for gym nurseries for kids under one?
I have been really hesistant to use my gym nursery for this reason. I know they have some swings and excersaucers and two people there at all times but dont know what activites they do. I wouldnt be comfortable leaving my lo there knowing they would leave him in the stroller. Thats not childcare? Even though its very short term and they are not 'childcare' its still bad 'child minding'.

OK, i thought that was weird. we're not joining that gym anyway (we'll be going to our old gym, but i still need to check out their nursery) but i thought that was really odd. there were two children playing in there, and the girl had her back to them. i would have expected them to at least have a jumperoo or a swing for the little babies. DD would be miserable if kept in her stroller for that long. they made it sound as if keeping her in her stroller was the most normal thing.
At 7 months DS was sitting so he would sit on the play mats and play with toys. Some days I would come back and he would be in the exersaucer or swing. Sometimes he was in the stroller if he had fallen asleep.
Our gym has a great daycare. The only time I see babies in strollers is if they are asleep or are really little and can't sit on their own. When DS was little he was happy to sit in his carseat and watch. At 7 months I wouldn't expect them to be in the stroller the whole time.
The infant room at the YMCA has exersaucers, bouncy seats, swings, infant toys and a crib. DS, since he can crawl, moves around the room and plays with the toys, pulls up on the exersaucers, etc. Some ladies with younger kids bring their kids in their infant seats or the infant room attendant will hold and play with them. The YMCA has a strict, 6 kids only rule, which means we have to make reservations to get them in.

Re: ? for those who use the nursery at the gym
This. What if you don't bring your stroller in?

Well...Jake has the teacher wrapped around his little finger. He spends most of the time on her lap playing with a toy.
But there's an exersaucer there, and a big playmat with toys.
He alternates between the three. There's no way I could leave him there if they were going to keep him in his stroller, he would not be happy.
