XP:Update from yesterday's appt

The growth u/s went pretty well.  Baby A is 1lb 13oz and Baby B is 1lb 1oz... a 38% difference in size which is not good, but both babies are growing at the same rate, which is great.  After finishing the u/s the dr I don't really like came in and scared the crap out of me by telling me that unless the size difference got under 30% in the next 2 weeks I was going to be admitted to the hospital until delivery. Yikes!! So I spend the rest of the morning fighting off tears.

Then I went to the other hospital to have the echo and my team meeting with Dr C.  (I pink puffy heart him!!) After spending most of the day in a level-4 meltdown Dr C tells me that both babies look perfect.  The only concern is Baby A's heart is getting worse, but at such a slow pace that the risk of surgery is greater than then risk of waiting. He said that if it continues at this slow of a pace I'll be fine to do nothing and deliver at 34 weeks. (Might get the steriod shots at 30 weeks as a precaution)

I then asked him about the hospital bedrest and he said as long as both babies are growing at the same rate there's not need for it. Yay!!  So all-in-all we're still stable and couch bound.  Thanks for the thoughts and prayers!!

Re: XP:Update from yesterday's appt

  • I have a couple of different doctors that deliver news differently too, it's frustrating when they give you the worst case scenario and don't say what the likely (or something) that it would happen. T&P for keeping them baking longer!!

  • what an emotional day! I hope all goes well. It's nuts to see how different doctors can be.
