S/O of maids

DH's mom is cleaning our house bi-weekly and they are some things that I feel like she is not doing that she should be doing. I have no point of reference, so I'm not sure what is expected of someone that cleans your house. We do pay her so she's not doing it for free. If you have someone that cleans your house, what do they do when they come over?

Our housekeeper's set duties are cleaning the bathrooms, dusting, vacuuming and mopping. Beyond that, she cleans as she sees fit - she usually does a deep clean of our stove and kitchen sink (they sparkle! and repel water!) and wipes down the kitchen counters with shiny stuff. And if I have laundry on the bed (that I'm planning on folding - I'm not leaving it out for her), she'll fold it and put it in the basket. Yesterday she wiped down all of our fans because it felt like time to her. I showed up at lunch and she was getting ready to clean out our fridge but I drew the line with her there. I'll deal with my fridge - it's funky and I know it's time for a deep clean.

Our cleaning ladies come bi-weekly as well.

They dust, vacuum, mop, clean the showers, toilets, mirrors, and all of the surfaces & floors in the house. If I leave stuff out or my bed unmaid, they will take care of that as well.

If I pay them extra they will completely clean out my fridge for me. I did that at 39 weeks pregnant... I gave them $10 and they left it spotless and organized... well worth the $10.

How much do you pay her and how often does she come?

I have someone (a couple people that will actually come on a given day) that comes every other week. I pay her $50 each time. She does what your person does but I have to be honest, she doesnt do as good of a job as I would like. Now I know I would do a way better job but I dont have the time for that. Im thinking of getting rid of her or at least trying someone else. Im not sure if Im getting a deal or not so Im going to be watching this post to see what everyone else pays.

This except the bed part. I have this weird phobia of people touching my bed (don't ask!!)

I love my cleaning people more than DH. LOL

She comes every other week and we pay her $55.

She cleans our kitchen, floors and dusting every week. Once a month she does a deep clean on our bathrooms.

We also leave the end of her shift opened ended. That way if there is something else that desperately needs to be done - or I need help, she's open.

Ok, I'm convinced she isn't doing enough and I think it's b/c she's DH mom. I hate to say this but she's slacking off. She cleans other people's houses so she knows what she's doing. We only pay her $5 less than you pay your housekeeper. I think DH will need to have a talk with her.

Wow, I wish my girls were that cheap. I'd have them come 2x a week then!!

I pay my crew $130 each time they are here (every other week) but they are here for about 3 1/2 hours each time.

Ours comes bi-weekly. We pay $75 each time. She cleans all floors (kitchen, bathrooms, hardwood), vacuums, cleans toilets, cleans counters, sinks, dusts, sometimes she'll do things like clean our coffee pot and microwave, etc
