Has anyone had a birthmark lasered off?

I am getting part of mine done tomorrow (thought they were going to do it all) and I can't sleep... I would just like to know if anyone DID have it done, did it hurt?  what did it look like after?  how long until it looked "normal" if ever?

    yes, i have.  it was on my arm/deltoid area.  a red(port wine) birthmark.  it did hurt.  they zapped the blood vessels with the laser.  in the days after it scabbed up. a week or two to heal. i only had one treatment done, and it faded quite a bit. its been 12 years and still looks the same.  i was told it would take 3 sessions to be completely removed, but now when i have a tan you can hardly notice it.
