Moving to Knoxville, doctor suggestions!?

I'm 7 weeks pregnant and just found out we are moving to the Knoxville, TN area in late July! I wondered if anyone knew of a good OB/GYN dr in that area!? The only website I've been on is Parkwest Hospital. Thanks!

Re: Moving to Knoxville, doctor suggestions!?

  • I go to Fort Sanders OBGYN group. I love them. I am not picky on which doctor I see but if you prefer a female I would recommend Dr Sanders. Their # is 865-524-3208. Hope that helps!!!
  • You say you're moving to the Knoxville area. Do you know where exactly? There's a great group based in Maryville, TN at Blount Memorial Hospital called All Women's Care Pllc - Dr. Nancy Garza is the best! Good luck!

  • I recommend checking out St Mary's (Mercy).  They have wonderful LDRPs with a wonderful staff.  I have used Dr. Haney-Weaver for an GYN check up and she was wonderful.

I went to Dr. O'Kelley at Generations and I love love love him! I also saw Dr. Many while Dr. O'K was on vacation and I liked her as well if you prefer a lady. Generations is located in the building right next to Parkwest Hospital. I had an awesome L&D and highly recommend Parkwest!

  • Parkwest Hospital is really great and convenient! I'm 18 weeks pregnant and seeing Dr. Schroeder. I have been going to him for 10 years, and I always feel he and his staff have given me the best information and guidance about pregnancy and beyond. They have great birthing and breastfeeding classes to sign up for! Good luck with the search!
  • I am also going to Generations right next to ParkWest hospital. I go to Dr. Many, and she is wonderful!  I have known quite a few to deliver at ParkWest and loved it and also have a friend who just delivered with Dr. Many and was so pleased. Good luck, and welcome to Knoxville. I'd love for all us Knoxville November/December/January moms to keep in touch. :)

  • Thanks to everyone for the suggestions. I kinda had my mind set on Parkwest because we are going to try and move to the west side of knoxville probably sometime in September. Hopefully earlier!

I cannot say enough good things about Parkwest, and I have several friends who delivered there. We all had good experiences! Good luck!

I go to Lisa Ross Birth and Women's Center. I absolutely love the care I receive there - the whole center is run by nurse-midwives, nurse practitioners, and RNs. They do have an OB for consultations and referrals if you have complications. Also, you can choose to give birth at the center if you want a natural birth, or at the hospital (St. Mary's) if you are more comfortable with that. Check it out!
  • I can not recommend Women's Care Group enough.  We also live out west.  They have offices at UT and at Baptist West (in the Turkey Creek area).  I am delivering at UT because they have the best adult ICU and NICU at the same hospital.

If in the instance the baby needs to be in the NICU you can be at the same hospital, merely a short walk away to see the baby while you are still in the hospital.

  • Hey there, I know this is late, but I worked at Parkwest for a long time and the Birthing center is awesome as well as all of the staff up there! Dr. Schroeder is great, but anyone in that group is good as well! Good luck to you.

  • I saw Dr. Walker at Parkwest Women's Specialists and was pretty pleased.  There can be a long wait depending on your appointment time but I would HIGHLY recommend using Park West hospital for your delivery.  The nurses there are so caring and completely wonderful!  I almost didn't want to go home aftering having my daughter because they were so fantastic!

    Good luck!

  • Dr. Jacklyn Van Nes at Women's Specialty Specialty Care is awesome!! If you can't get in to see her, every other doctor in that practice is great as well. They have three offices, one in halls, one at UT Medical Center and one off of Northshore. Their number is 865-305-9799.

I would also recommend Women's Specialty Care.  I see Dr. Moss and she is amazing.  She delivered my DD and I absolutely love her office staff.  She is in Halls.  I have also seen Dr. Blache a couple of times when I was having problems, and she is great, too.  Dr. Van Nes was on call when I had bleeding over a weekend.  She called me back right away and was great, too.  I can't say enough great things about this practice.
