Okay. This annoys me.

I just got an email that our crib was recalled.  Their solution?

"Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled cribs and contact LaJobi to receive a free hardware retrofit kit that will immobilize the drop side. CPSC urges parents and caregivers to find an alternative, safe sleeping environment for their baby."

Okay.  So WTF am I supposed to do with my child (who's currently passed out in the crib) for next however-many-weeks it takes to receive the retro-fit kit?  I mean, really.  They think that's a plausible suggestion?  Where, pray tell, would be a suitable "alternative, safe sleeping environment" for my child?  In bed with us?  Because that's a no-no according to the CSPC.  And he's one.  He certainly can't move to a regular bed.  So, what?  Am I supposed to go buy a different crib?

I really think they should overnight the kit.  Or, better yet, a check to buy a new, "safe sleeping environment."

  • i just read that article on aol.com! im sorry your crib is being recalled. that has got to be awful. its a drop side crib right? i was told never to buy one because they always get recalled.

but i agree they need to over night the kit asap or replace the crib. it is rediculous. can you call for them to over night the kit?

    Awww!  Thanks!

  • That sucks!  When our crib was recalled (slats were breaking on our model) we had to mail them all the hardware to prevent us from using the crib ever again then wait several weeks for a voucher to buy a new crib.  Oh, and the voucher was only good by the same company (yeah right I would trust them again) so we were out the cost of that crib and bought an entirely new one.

UGH!  That's awful!  I'll quit complaining now.

  • It turned out okay since I ended up with a much nicer crib (thanks to my very generous aunt!)!  We used the pack n play while we waited to sort everything out.  Not sure if that's an option for you, but it worked for us as a short-term solution.  Hopefully you'll get the kit quickly!

  • Uggh ours got recalled too.  It was a pain to locate the model number and I couldn't find the actual location of the sticker listed anywhere on the recall information.  I called the 800 number and there is no way to talk to a live person.  The system could not understand our address since it is a Spanish name and disconnected my call three times.  I will never buy Graco furniture again.

  • Pack n Play. Both of my kids slept in ours just fine during all of our housing adventures.

  • they recalled my crib completly, no fix kit or anything, they were giving vouchers for what the crib was worth, but in order to get the voucher, you had to send 3 different parts back to them, which made our crib useless.  We ended up buying a new crib, then sending the parts back for the recall crib and eating the price of our new crib, until we got the voucher for the old one, which took FOREVER, then we took the voucher and the receipt for the new crib to the store for a refund on the new crib... it was a PITA.  I would def. fight for them to overnight the part needed to fix your recalled crib!
