What facial cleanser are you using?

I just had a facial and the attendant recommended Dermalogica for my 'normal to oily' skin.  I'm still researching what is safe in their product line.  In the meantime, I thought I'd ask what you're using so maybe I can look into other alternatives.

TIA!

Re: What facial cleanser are you using?

  • DO NOT use dermalogica right now. Unless their cleanser has less than 1% salic acid in it. It will either A dry your skin out or B increas faliculitus(whiteheads) since your chemistry is different right now. IMHO.  Im using purity from philosophy at the moment.

  • I use Dove Energy Glow Foaming Facial Cleanse.

    https://www.dove.ca/en/?dl=/Products/Face/face_eglow_fcleanse.aspx#/Products/Face/face_eglow_fcleanse.aspx

it has the tiniest little beads of exfoliant in it and it was basically the only cleanser I found that didn't dry out my skin.  I highly recommend it.

  • I use Burts Bees.  I have their pore scrub and soap bark face wash and they've worked great so far.

Me too!  I love the smell of he soap bark face wash.  So creamy and doesn't dry out my sensitive skin.

  • I use proactive cleaner. My OB said it was fine and it works well for me.
  • I started with Yes to Carrots, now I am using Yes to Tomatoes because it makes me feel all fresh :)

  • shiesido cleansing foam.  It is expensive, but I get mine at a discount from an Ebay seller. You only need a pea size amount so it probably ends up costing the same as a drugstore cleaser. since the tube lasts long.
  • I'm using Avene Cleanance Soap-Free Gel Cleanser. It's hard to find in stores, though; I usually have to order it online. It's working for me right now, and I usually have very breakout-prone skin. Good luck!

  • Cetaphil. The only difference while I'm pg is that I sometimes have to wash twice a day instead of just once.

  • I'm a Cetaphil girl.  I have super sensitive and oily skin, and a dermatologist recommended it to me years ago.  It's all I've used ever since.

  • I did a lot of research into facial cleansers after I had DS because nothing seemed to work well with my face/body chemistry during pregnancy or after anymore.  The one that came up recommended over and over again was Purpose, I've been using it ever since and I love it!

  • Belli Skin care acne wash. Love it! My face has never looked so good.  I used that in the morning with the Belli Skin care Anti-Chloasma Facial Sunscreen SPF 25. At night I used Elizabeth Grady face wash, Vitamin E Cleansing Gel with the toner called Lavender Hydrating and oil free moisturizer from Elizabath Grady.

I have been using Dermalogica for several years now. I have very oily skin, and this has been a great product. My doctor approves of it. Now for the last week or so, my skin has gotten a bit more oily, but I use the skin oil wipes mid afternoon to soak it up. I have seen a bit more increase in breakouts, but not much, and I attribute it to normal pregnancy breakouts. I love the dermalogica line, even if it is pricey.

  • Mary Kay Timewise. I did have to switch from the normal to oily formula to the normal to dry, but it seems to be working out well.

I agree its a great line but she wants to switch to it I was a rep for them in college and switching while youre pregnant to a pricey skincare line IMO could be bad especially if she has a reaction. I would wait until after the baby comes and use something milder in the mean time. Your skin could be getting more oily and breaking out more because youre over cleansing or undermoisturising, When that happens your skin is compensating for something

ah, that makes sense. I didn't catch that the first time I read it. My Bad! My sis in law is an estitician, and she got me onto it. I told her the thing with me getting more oily skin lately and she asked me the same thing. I just wash morning and night, and use a good moisturizer (not dermalogica). I used to but ran out, and have been using neutrogena oil free. that might be the difference. i might have to buck up the extra $$ to get back to using the dermalogica oil free moisturizer.

I thought Proactive was a no-no during pregnancy. I wouldn't know though, since I haven't used their products. I just remember a Bumpie posting about the company actually saying to discontinue use, until she had her baby.

I'm using Dermalogica right now, as well. I was using Bioelements, but just switched salons and we carry Dermalogica, and I've always preferred that over anything else.

  • I also use Mary Kay Timewise Combination to Oily cleanser and moisturizer.  I have oily skin anyway, but with the humidity being high and being pregnant it is crazy!

  • I guess people are saying not to use Salicylic Acid but I actually switched to St. Ives Black head scrub and cleanser and it worked fabulous for me, my skin has been more oily than usual, and (TMI) I started getting blackheads on my inner thighs! I used it in both areas and my skin looked healthy and perfect in 2 days!  I recommend it.
  • Cetaphil - mostly the creamy, All-Skin-Types one but occasionally I'll use the normal to oily one.
  • I'm using Cetaphil cleanser and moisturizers.
  • I used to be a loyal Dermalogica girl. Now I use Dr. Bronner's baby mild soap, it's organic and cruelty free. I also use it in the shower as shower gel. Little goes a long way and does the job. Then I use Philosophy Hope in A Jar (not too much synthetic stuff in it and is 99.9% oil free) to moisturize and Peter Thomas Roth Ultradry sunscreen. Then I exfoliate every other day with a loofah sponge. I also have normal to oily skin. This combination seems to have worked wonderfully so far for me. GL!
