Military Families

Just got great news (mixed in with one piece of crap)!

Talked to DH today and it looks like the deployment he's on will be ending earlier than planned. ::Insert huge grin here::

The downside is that he won't be getting leave around the time the baby is due, so he won't be here for that. We always knew that was a possibility, so even though it sucks, the fact that he'll be here not too long after is so freaking awesome!

  • I'm glad you're able to see the good side of that! I can tell you that (imo at least) its so much better that YH will get to stay with your little one for a big chunk of time rather than having to leave again. It tears at their heartstrings like nothing else having to leave such a tiny baby behind again.

Best of luck in your near future!

  • I'm sorry that he won't be there for the birth, but YEAH for coming home early. One positive is that you won't have the stress of worrying if he'll make it home in time for the birth. That's the route I took since my DH was deployed for our son's birth. My DH came home early as well--and that was fabulous!

  • That's awesome that his deployment will end sooner. I'm glad he'll be in a safe area when your LO is born though.

It's like you got very bitter sweet news today.

  • You have a great attitude. Yes

I wish you a smooth L&D, and send you best wishes for a happy homecoming.

  • Thanks everybody! I had myself a little cry there for a minute or two, but the trade-off is pretty great. He's going to be here probably a month or so after the birth so I'll still be on maternity leave and we'll be able to do some real family stuff together. And Christmas... OMG, he'll be here for Christmas. So cool.

  • I also agree with PPs about your awesome attitude! I was having myself a little pity today after finding out that our next  possible assignments consist of Ft. Bragg or Ft. Riley....this is after spending the last 4 years at Ft. Drum.....talk about sucky options.  But I read your post and said to myself "It doesn't matter where we go, as long as we are together!"

Thanks for knocking me out of my funk and getting me to put things in perspective...BTW, I LOVE the name you have picked out for your LO.  I admired it all the time when I read your posts on 3rd Tri.  Maddox is SO cute!

I'm so happy your DH will be coming home early!
