TTC after 35

Need reassurance: follie count on day 2 of meds

On cycle day 2 for my base info, I had 14 antral follies.    I went in today after 2 nights of meds and I have 9 on the right and 2 on the left.    I asked about the 14 they saw initially and they said that it must have been blood flow via a vessle?

At any rate, I am concerned about what I have going.   I am on a TON of meds, literally a TON.   I am taking 600iu of follistim and 2 vials of menopur each night.

Last cycle I was only on 150 follistim and 2 vials on menopur.    We only got 3 eggs of which all fert, but only one was 8 cells.    So, with the DOR title the doc's are pushing me to get more follies this time.

Little history, I have 1 dd who is 2 years old.    I conceived her via IUI with 50mg of clomid on the 4th try.    This time I have done 12 IUI's with gonal f and clomid (some of which were b2b).    No luck with any of them.

We have done 1 cycle of IVF which failed (mentioned above).    We got 3 eggs out of 4 follies total.    So, with the DOR label and bad fsh #'s in the past we have decided to get agressive.

This is the last try so here we go!!!!     I just hope we are doing good thus far.

Thanks ladies

  • i would say you're off to a strong start, so try not to worry. With my 2nd IVF done last August I didn't have nearly as many follies to potentially work with from the get go. I 'think' if i remember correctly the most they ever saw was 7 or 8 total and that was days into stimming. I was also on high doses of follistim and menopur. that ivf wound up not working for us, but the next cycle we got pg naturally so it worked out for us in the end.

best of luck for this cycle. think positive!!

  • For DOR, that's a pretty strong number. I know you're tired of hearing it, but it really is quality over quantity. Good luck!

  • I gree with pp...while we all would like to see 20 or more eggs, the truth is that often the ones they see first are gonna be your strongest...the ones that come up later usually are not as good quality.

It only takes one good embryo...don't lose the hope.  I think you are off to a very good start!
