I posted on Monday an ad to an online Nanny website to find someone to care for my DS in our home. I posted within the ad the hours (12:30-5:30) and the monthly pay we were able to pay.
I have had 9 responses over the last few days and on every email I responded back verifying the hours and pay. The top 3 contenders all said the hours and pay were fine so I set up phone interviews. While on these three calls I got the following:
1 - person wanted double the money (more than the local daycares want for full time)
1- person wanted full time (so double the money)
1 - person wanted to show up after her current job at 3:30.
What is the deal - I specically posted what I was looking for and then verified with a separate email AFTER they responded to my ad the first time. Why do people wait until you get all excited about them to drop the bomb on you....
I hate searching for day care providers. Vent over
Re: Don't respond if you don't read....
Right! I am not a Fortune 500 company, there is no point to try to negotiate with me I can't pay double, that is why I posted a straight forward ad. So angering.... guess DH will have to start thinking about being a SAHD sooner rather than later
I actually had a phone interview with a nanny, brought her to the house to meet LO, checked her references, and called to extend her an offer . . . and only then did she say, "By the way, I need to bring my daughter with me, I hope that's okay."
I also liked the ones who responded and asked if we could come get them and take them home everyday when we clearly said "transportation required" and the ones who wanted to work under the table when we clearly said "on the books."
You have my sympathy!!!
