Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Child care questions

I feel totally clueless about this.  LO has never been without myself or DH, but DH starts a new job in 3 weeks.  Yay, but now LO has to go somewhere. I'm off for the summer at the end of May so my neighbor is going to watch her for the two weeks before I'm done.  My question is what do I send with her? Where will she nap? etc. It just seems like we have all this stuff for her at home to play with so what do you send with your LO if someone else watches them at their home? TIA

Talk to your neighbor. Does she have kids? Baby stuff?

Our DCP is set up with all the gear, bouncy chairs, swings, play yards, etc. I gave her a little care sheet listing LO's preferences for naps, how to soothe him when he's crying, etc. I just bring diapers and wipes, extra clothes, and bottles of milk. You should be able to talk about all that stuff with the care provider.

  • I bought a second bouncer, a P&P, extra boppy, blankets and some toys. She washed the bottles, so I gave her 4.  I send formula, bibs, burp cloths, diapers and wipes as needed.  Every day I bring a bag with a change of clothes, sunglasses, hat, tylenol, mylecon, binkies.

  • We provided a pnp, although sometimes, DD just sleeps in her carseat- wherever DCP feels DD is happiest during that naptime. I generally just send this on a regular basis: my CD's, a blanket, a few toys, breast milk, paci's, extra clothes, ummm and I leave the car seat. I bought and left at DCP's house: pnp, wipes (although we will be switching to cloth soon), bottles, a bottle brush, a can of formula for emergencies, and I think that's it...
  • She is a mom but her kids are older (the youngest is 10)....so she doesn't really have any baby stuff.  She doesn't do child care for anyone else, it's just sort of a favor for us and only for 2 weeks.

  • If its only for 2 weeks, do the bare minimum.  Depending on how long she's going to be there vs. at your home, take what she likes and leave it M-F and take it home for the weekend.
