I feel like we're in a major sleep regression. My son has slept in his crib from 4.5 months to now with no problems. We still can't put him down and have him go to sleep- he needs to be rocked and put down once he's passed out.
The problem now is that as soon as his back
touches the crib mattress, he wakes up. It doesn't matter if I keep a
hand under his head- as soon as I take it out, he wakes up crying. I
spend hours every night trying to rock him enough that he'll stay asleep
when I put him down and I'm exhausted. He used to sleep in there just
fine.
If I put him in our bed, he doesn't wake. He just settles in. We really don't want to start cosleeping at this age and our bed is too small for us to be comfortable with him there- we get squished and can't sleep well.
Any ideas? I am exhausted. I haven't slept in 2 days.
Re: Refusing to sleep in crib
this. and my life is SOOOO much better for it. now i rock her while she drinks her last bottle, sometimes she falls asleep, sometimes not, but as soon as she's done I put her in the crib and she rolls over and falls asleep. its pretty amazing.
I am really not sure I am comfortable with CIO but I am buying sleep books today so I am going to pick up a copy of Ferber's as well.
I always said I'd never do this because I don't believe in it and I would rather another option if I can find one.
Do you do the same bedtime routine every night? When we started doing the EXACT same thing every night (bath, massage, pj's and 2 books) then we put her in her crib with her lovey and pacifier, she just started to roll over and go to sleep. Sometimes she'll fuss a little and we'll go back in and put the pacifier back in or re-adjust her, but she always falls asleep pretty easily.
I was also not comfortable with CIO so I tried this and it works for us!
