Babies: 3 - 6 Months

5-6 month olds - drop a nap yet?

I had been having success with the chart someone posted which listed the estimated "awake" times for babies by their age.

For the past month we've been doing well putting LO down for naps based on a 1 hr 50 min - 2 hour awake time in between.

He still goes down really easily for his morning nap (wakes at 7:30, naps at 9:30) but the second one is usually a struggle. He mostly fusses for at least half an hour, and lately has been refusing to sleep.

So what to do? Skip it completely and feed him?

The past 2 days that's what I did, but he took his next nap at different times on those days.

Hmm. What is your LO doing? How many naps/when? Thoughts?

  • LO has always had a hard time with naps. He takes 3 naps a day right now, always after 2-3 hours of wakefullness. His first two naps are longer and his third one is normally only 30 minutes.

Since he wakes up at different times everyday I base his nap schedule on that instead of a specific time. Seems to work ok for us.

I do this....but wouldn't mind looking at the chart you mentioned. Would you mind re-posting or giving me a link?

    TIA

  • Our guy sleeps 11 hrs at night and has just, in the past 3 weeks, dropped his afternoon naps.  But he is taking a much longer morning nap.  His schedule is:

    6:30 wake

    9:30-11:30 - nap

    1pm -1:30 - nap

    4-4:30 - nap

    6:30 - eat and bedtime
