Convertible Car Seats ?

DH and I found a great deal on a Safety 1st Alpha Omega Elite Convertible Car Seat. I can't find my copy of Baby Bargains and I was wondering how this rated...or if there are any moms out there who can tell me what they think of this seat or any others. TIA!

    I have the 8th edition of BB and the seat you mentioned isn't rated in it.

    I asked about this carseat yesterday on 6-12 and had one response.  Let me see if I can find it for you and I'll post it here.  The poster said she wouldn't reccommend this carseat.  I was really starting to lean in this direction until I read that.

    I have it, and it works.  However, I have two major issues with it:

    1) It is not AT ALL intuitive to install.  It took reading and re-reading the manual over and over again to figure out how to install it.  And the LATCH system belt is attached in a funny way that makes it hard to use, and hard to put away if you don't want to use it.

    2) It doesn't recline far enough.  Our car has seats that sloped downward toward the back of the seat, and the carseat never could recline back far enough to be at the correct angle.  Luckily, we just got a new van and it works in there, so long as it is reclined all the way.

    Honestly, I wouldn't recommend it.  I would return it if I could, but it was a gift from MIL that we got at our shower - five months before we used it, and she took it out of the box.  Target refused to take it back after so long, and without the box. 

     Hope this helps!  I'm still not 100% sure that we won't end up with this seat.  I've read the reviews on different websites and either people love it or hate it - there's no one in between.
