Baby Registry for Adopted Baby?

My cousin is adopting a baby through a private adoption.  She and her husband have been trying for over five years to conceive and this opportunity came their way and they are so excited about it.  They just found out last week and the baby will be born via c-section at the end of May so there is not time for a baby shower plus my cousin is well aware that the mom could still change her mind and feels like having a baby shower might give her bad mojo but I told her I would host a Sip and See.  My question is - is it appropriate for her to register for a Sip and See for an Adopted baby?  This is their first child and she needs everything so practical gifts would be most appreciated but I don't even know if you give gifts at a Sip and See.

 Thoughts?

    I would think you could still do gifts.  I mean she is still having a baby!

    I agree, just because they are adopting doesnt mean they shouldnt get gifts. Plus they shoudl get what they want so i would say yes register away!!

    Yes she should register.  And a meet the baby party will be a lovely gift for you to give her!

    I am not sure what a sip and see is, but you can throw the shower after the baby is with her.  Yes she can still register.

    I agree with PP. They should definitely register. Like you said they need everything since this is a first child and I am sure people will want to bring gifts.

    I don't see how her registering could be inappropriate.  She's going to have a baby even if it's by different means than most of us.
    After 2 years and 6 IUIs, we did it with IVF w/ ICSI!
    BFP with no treatment!

    definitely yes!!  they are going to need EVERYTHING practically overnight!  i can understand her hesitation beforehand, but can you imagine bringing that new baby home and not being prepared?  if i was her i would make sure to already have the things she will need right away and register for the bigger items or things that she won't need until the baby is a few weeks old.....good luck!
