XP & NBR: Stupid ?s about hiring painters

I also posted this on the D&R, but wasn't sure how much traffic that board has, so please bear with me...

We just bought a new place and we're hiring professional painters for the first time. My stupid questions are: when the painters come to paint, do you just let them in the house and come back when they're done for the day? We're not moving in until all the painting is finished - is it stupid to give them the key so they can let themselves in every morning until the job is done?

And what brand of paint is good? Is there really a difference in quality between a "brand" name vs. Behr?

Behr is great paint...we have used it in every room of our house. Although we have done all our painting ourselves, we did have some friends who hired painters and they made sure one person was home while they were there...but that was because they were living there already and just wanted to keep an eye on thier posessions. But if the house would be empty, I would just leave the home unlocked.

we had the painters the day after we moved in....it was craziness but our closing had gotten moved up. so--i am so glad we were around because they started to use the wrong color in the upstairs hallway and if we hadn't been here to catch it, they would have had to spend an extra day to correct it! that said--i would be there, but that is me. (and this was also before i was even pregnant, so i wasn't worried about the paint smell.) also we used the paint that home depot sells, they recommended it.
