C-section mamas- Support belt?

I am trying to prepare for the fact that I will likely have a c-section in about 4 weeks (due to complete placenta previa).  I have never had a c-section before.  Anyway, I have been reading that many moms have used a support belt/band following their c-section and that it aids in pain/healing.  Did you use one?  Was it helpful?  What type did you use?  TIA!

Re: C-section mamas- Support belt?

  • I used one and it helps.. especially for walking around. it felt like it held me up so i wasn't walking like a little old lady all hunched over.

iIused the one the hospital gave me at first. Then DH bought me a medela one, but that didn't fit me very well, it would ride up and not stay in place.

  • I used one and it really helped. The nurses put it on about 2 hours after my c-section. It helped support my stomach so that I could stand and walk. I had no problems recovering and was running around within a week but I am still wearing mine. My stomach is still weak and it just makes everything feel better.

I also think it helped me get back into my pre-pregnancy pants so quickly. Big Smile

  • i used one and am still wearing it now.  it's just an elastic band that they put on me at the hospital (i'm fairly sure i've seen them by the wraps & braces at the drugstore as well) with a velcro strip closure.  it holds everything together and makes me much more comfortable.
