anyone? A few friends of mine did... My DD is breastfed but even when I'm home it seems like she would sooner take the bottle. She only loves nursing in the morning & at night. I wanted to start introducing cow's milk so I wouldn't have to pump as much. Anyone have experience here?
Re: Who Started Cow's Milk Before 12 months?
We just started it yesterday, so I don't really have any advice. The boys were a bit hesitant about it yesterday and would only take a few drinks at a time. I guess Eli got over that because he finished all of the bottles we sent to DC this morning before lunch time! The girls had to call me and ask what they should give him because we send organic milk. I told them to give him what the DC has for the afternoon. It won't hurt him. I feel so badly that I didn't send him enough!
I think they didn't like it cold, right out of the fridge. They're used to room temp formula and I think the get kind of a brain freeze from the cold milk.
I started mixing DS's formula bottles with whole milk at 11 months. It took about a week before he was ok with 100% whole milk so we just made the switch. We put away all bottles and just used his sippy cup.
He was eating well on table food. The Dr did have us put him on a liquid vit when he still takes today, but almost 99% of the people I know have their LO on the same vit.
With DD#1 the pedi had me start like this:
9m1week- offer milk in a sippy 1 time/week
9m3weeks- offer milk in the sippy 2X/wk
10 months- offer milk 3X/week
11months offer milk in sippy 1X/day
12 months offer milk each meal and snack
