Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

I DD

I DD'ed because I realized how stupid I sounded and how stupid my worry was. I should not have been worried about it and I realize that now. Thank you all for your comments. I hope I am still welcome here.

Re: I DD

  • I seriously wouldn't have DD'd. It wasn't a bad post and it only makes things worse. I was in the middle of typing a response, so I'll just add it here.

It is a silly thing to be worried about since he isn't even a year old yet, but I think we all have times of being worried over silly things. It is part of being a parent.

Try not to compare your son to others though. Every child does things in their own time and it doesn't mean a child will be smarter, more athletic, etc. just because they walked earlier. As the PP have said it may be awhile before he truly starts walking. DS is almost 15 months and he just started taking a few steps independently.

Try not to worry and know that it is COMPLETELY normal that your son isn't walking yet.

Thanks! I know it usually makes it worse and I considered that but I know it was a stupid post and a stupid worry. Everyone made me realize that and I didn't want my stupidness out there. LOL!!

Our little man didn't start walking until about 16 months.

  • I don't really think you needed to DD, but I'm glad you got a reality check.  Think of it this way:  your son is unlikely to be first or best at everything in life.  If you find that frustrating or disappointing or worthy of worry (especially when he is WELL within the normal timeframe and not even BORDERING on late) then better to get a grip now than when he's older and can sense that frustration and feel badly about himself.  Seriously.
  • I didn't see your original post, but I agree with pp.  While it was maybe a silly question, its hard not to worry when you see other little kids doing things your child can't yet.

DD didn't start walking until 14 months and just started gaining words in the last 2 weeks at 19 months.  She has a cousin 5 months younger than her who started doing all these things before her.  Its hard not to compare and worry.

  • DD'ing and then posting that you DD'd is not the smartest thing to do.
