OK I am joking about the title of the post.
DH was released after completing 30 days of rehab and he was given a letter stating that he attending every meeting and was motivated, thoughtful, and shared at all the session.
I picked him up on Tuesday evening. He came home unpacked, ate dinner with us as a family, and then went to an AA meeting. He then returned and help me put our DD to bed in her own bed.
The next morning he got up at 7 am, showered, dressed. He then got DD up and dressed, fed and hung out with her for 90 min. Our nanny did not know what to do with all her free time so she started cleaning. He took the dog for a hour and a half walk and then went to another AA meeting.
In the afternoon he mowed the grass and trimmed the edging and did other yard work. Then in the evening we had dinner together and he cleaned out the inside of my car and finally went to another AA meeting.
I am sure this blow by blow description is boring but I just wanted to share that he is acting GREAT! I am sure it will not always be like this but he is really trying and I am so proud of him.
He is talking to me and telling me when he has urges to drink or take prescription meds. We are communicating openly and it feels so nice and normal.
I am still scared that there are so many tough challenges ahead. I will not live my life blind to his actions now or in the future. I will need to be vigilant.
Thank you all for your support here as well as your kind thoughts and prayers. You have no idea how great a source of comfort you have been for me. I am forever grateful to you.
Re: Update - DH breaking out of Rehab
This is the first I'm reading about your DH's addiction and his recovery, and I must say that I'm very hopeful that he'll be able to continue on this path and be able to control his addictions and live a functional and healthy life with you and your DC.
