So I am 38 days prego.  My Dr. had surgery or something so he is out until may 18th, so i am going to another Dr. in the same office.  I had blood draws on day 26 (after BFP) and day 33. My HCG is doing okay, but my progesterone is falling.  It was 20.7 and on last Friday it was 15. So b/c of my 3 previous early m/c and suspected insufficient progesterone levels i thought that I would continue to be tested for progesterone, but the Dr. I am going to now doesn't think its necessary.  I basically insisted and she said that if it would make me feel better that I can have a prog. test this Friday.  I am I wrong to want to monitor my progesterone. Oh also I have been on 1 pill(200mg) prometrium since day 20, but I think that if my progesterone is falling I should have my dose increased.  I know i am not a Dr., but during my only sucessful pregnancy my progesterone fell to about 13 and the dr increased my prometrium to 600mg.  Am i crazy?  Should i get another dr.? thatnk you

    I'm not an expert on progesterone issues, but I would absolutely get a second opinion about it. ?Is there a way to get seen tomorrow, if not Friday? ?Better safe than sorry, in my opinion. ?Good luck!

    You're not crazy, my doctor (whom I loved and still love) didn't think I needed prometrium when my prog levels were at 12 at around 6 weeks.  She thought they were fine, even though they had dropped from 15 or 16.  I insisted that she put me on prometrium (seriously insisted to the point where we were going back and forth in an almost-argument) and she finally said, "Well if it will make you feel better, it won't hurt anything" so she put me on it.  It did make me feel much better.  Are there any other doctors in the practice?  I would suggest trying to get in to see one of them until your regular doctor returns.  And if you can't, tell the sub dr that you are insisting that your levels be monitored.  I don't think she can refuse to do that.  If she does, call your PCP and see if they'll do it for you.

    Some doctors just do not like to prescribe progesterone supps. Mine made me get tested on three seperate non-pregnancy cycles and then during my pregnancy. He does not think 15 is low so he wouldn't give you a supp. Try to remember that it's normal to fluctuate and even trend down because it will probably trend back up. I think it's good to get it tested again for peace of mind.
