Volunteering

Hey, I know military spouses and military members are doing great volunteer work. Tell us how you are helping out in the community and feel free to bring awareness to any causes!

Re: Volunteering

  • You're both, so answer your own question... what do YOU do?

And, I'll be nice and answer: I'm in the Junior League on the board of the Make A Wish committee as a wish granter.

  • TBH I don't volunteer anywhere. I have my kids, my oldest child's school functions, and then my school work myself. My H is OOT with his civi job every day of the week (few weekends off a month if that). I don't have time. Tongue Tied

  • In the community, nothing right now. I work 12 hour days and go to school at night. But at work, right now I'm sponsoring a junior enlisted who is going to the Soldier of the Year board, since I'm going for NCO of the Year.  I also am mentoring a freshly promoted E-5(who is clueless) in our Headquarters.

  • Shelly, why don't you ever reply to your own questions?

Because she already knows what SHE does.  She's the one that matters. Duuuhhh.

  • I volunteered to get my butt kicked and possibly shot at while working in the most hated MOS in the Army for 8 years.  J is a lifer who is gone 30+ weeks out of every year.  Outside of volunteering at our kids' school, we foster rescue pups.  I was the volunteer foster coordinator for the rescue, but 40+ hours a week is way too much for me to be volunteering.

For a "high demand MOS" she sure is on TB a lot.

  • I volunteer at the special olympics every year. I started in tech school and after I went operational, I try to volunteer twice a year. Mostly for the spring and winter events.
  • I'm part of MTA, so I volunteer whenever organizations on base need me.  I do most of my volunteer work at the base schools, but I throw in some blood drives and fundraisers for good measure.
    Twin boys due 7/25/12
  • Im also a member of the Junior League, so do a lot of community work throught that.  I also try to volunteer at a local school here through a program the CG has.
