So one of the smartest men alive -- Stephen Hawking -- recently said that he believes there is other life in the universe, but that we should not seek them out and should basically "hide" from them. He feels the other beings would destroy us.
What do you think?
I believe there is other life out there, and if they are more advanced than us, they will find us sooner or later. (My husband believes they have already found us and that they crashed at Area 51, but that's a whole other post.) If they are are set on destroying us, they will likely be able to do so, but I don't think we should necessarily believe that's the case. If they are intelligent enough to have survived, and to have contacted us, I would think they would be intelligent enough to want to communicate with us, rather than destroy us.
Re: Alien life -- good, evil, or non-existent?
I believe they exist and do not think they want to destroy us.
I just had a thought. Maybe they are our ancestors who somehow escaped our planet years ago and are just trying to get back? Silly thought... I know.
I think there probably is other lifeforms in some other galaxy - but I bet they're sitting on their own planet, wasting time on their own version of The Bump, wondering when we're going to come and destroy them.

Ahhh, so you are assuming the other life forms aren't more intelligent than us.
I just don't believe the whole UFO, buggy-eyed version of aliens. I don't think anything has found us or wants to destroy us. If they were more intelligent, why would they want to just destroy us? I think the universe is infinite so it would be naive to think nothing else was out there though.
I don't think it's beyond the realm of possibility that another civilization would want to destroy us to get our planet and its resources. People destroy other people all the time for land and resources.
Well, to destroy us, or take over the planet they would have to be able to sustain a lot of their population over the course of a really long journey.
Or they are on their way and it's taking a long time to get here.
I think something is out there.
DH and I visited this ranch run by James Gilliland and he claims it is a hot spot for UFO activity.
DH and I went one night and while DH (the ever skeptic) says all the lights streaking across the sky were satellites, there were two lights that couldn't be explained - even by him. There was a sudden quick big bright light on the side of the dark mountain there and there was another lower in the sky nearby.
Also James G. had these night goggles you could look out in his field with and there were these big bright orbs flying around. Some people managed to get pictures of those but I didn't.
It was an interesting experience to say the least!
