2nd Trimester

breech

My baby was breech at my last ultrasound about a month ago.  The doctor said not to worry because she has plenty of time to re-position.  I never asked how much time - does anyone know?  I'm a little concerned b/c I constantly feel movement very "low" as if her little feet were there... not that getting a c section is the worst thing, but I still can't help but worry.

Re: breech

  • DS was breech my entire pregnancy with him. We were going to do an u/s around 36 weeks to see if he had turned.  My water broke at 36 weeks and they did a bedside u/s when I got to L & D and he had turned head down on his own.  I think they can pretty much turn up to any point.  The question is if they will.  I know there are things you can try to get them to turn, I'm sure your dr will discuss those with you if it becomes and issue.  For what it's worth, this one is breech right now too!

  • I may be totally off on this one but if you are only at 23 weeks I do not think you should worry until you were passed your 8 month mark and entering the soon to be in labor stage ... I know some OBs but mainly midwives do a procedure to turn your baby, though most babies position themselves as they get ready for birthing. Good luck
  • Baby position does not matter at this point. DS 1 flipped the day before I delivered!

Yeah, I think it's still early to get too worried. www.spinningbabies.com has a lot of info about positioning and breech. hth

    DS1 - Feb 2008

    DS2 - Oct 2010 (my VBAC baby!)

  • My friend's baby turned the day she had gone in for her scheduled c-section (39 weeks) and she walked out and delivered him vaginally at 41 weeks.
  • Baby has a lot of room to move around right now. Don't be concerned at all. DS was breeched until 31 weeks so you have plently of time.  I think it's okay to be breeched until 35 weeks or so but even then you heard some women say their babies flipped right before delivery.

  • you have till 36/37 weeks for the baby to turn, plenty of time.
  • Thanks everyone... I just needed some assurance.  I'm going for another ultrasound 5/13, can't wait!
