I live in Hawaii but have all my fam in Vegas. I will be moving back to Vegas when my hubby deploys again (baby will be 4-5 months) We arent going to be taking all of our baby's stuff when I move back so Im really hoping someone decides to throw a suprise baby shower when we go visit in July so we dont end up buying everything twice... ![]()
Re: vegas shower
Why don't you take all of your baby stuff. Doesn't the military move you? I would ask family to start looking for sales, on craigslist, etc. for those things you don't plan to bring with you. Kind of weird to have a baby shower for a baby that is 4-5 months old...kwim?
You could always host a "welcome" or "meet" the baby party. But usually for those, people bring diapers and wipes and clothes.
IMO, it is kind of rude to ask for things you already have just to save you hassle.
Like pp suggested, start scouring the craigs list in Vegas and ask friends and family to pick things up for you (of course giving them the money to do it)
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

I thought it was pretty clear, given that you are only about 12 weeks along, that your due date was not going to happen before your July visit. ;-)
I think it's nice if you get a shower while you're visiting and hope that it's a special time for you - you're lucky to have such a supportive circle back home. For whatever it's worth, people on the trimester boards have seemed to me to be a bit less ready to read nonexistent issues into situations or jump to negatives when people post shower questions or tidbits. GL with the rest of your pregnancy and the move. :-)
