When would you POAS?

I have not been charting that long (this is my 2nd month), and last month, my LP was very short - 9 days. Would you POAS at POD 10, or would you hold off until POD 14 to avoid disappointment?

I also have a shortish LP and I always just wait for AF to arrive (she always does Angry )

The only time I POAS was when I did the clomid challenge for my testing. I have to say the stark white (like PP describes below) was pretty crushing.

I think at 9 days it is super early anyway, so if it is a negative (I hope, hope, hope for you that it would be a positive) you are sort of left wondering and hoping it was just too early to test.

That's just how I deal - but it's really whatever works for you!

I always used to wait until at least 12-13 dpo. Many months I didn't even test unless my temps looked really good and/or I "thought" I had symptoms. I just didn't want to waste a ton of $$ on HPTs every month and be disappointed. best of luck!

last month I POAS too early and too often, and it was only a disappointment. My new rule is I will POAS the day after AF is late and not a day sooner. I think I will drive myself crazy otherwise. I don't even keep the tests in the house anymore so I won't be tempted.

This is me....cannot stand the crazy that comes over me when I know I have the opportunity to POAS just because they are staring at me every time I open the cupboard. LOL!

I would hold out as long as you can. Like someone said earlier in the week it's better to have hope than disappointment. GL whatever you decide.

I never do, but that's just me. I would wait until AF was good and late. But, like I said, I can't stand the disappointment.

Hi Haribo1, we are on the same days....i am testing on saturday morning because of a party that night and of course i would like to know if i can drink!!! Though my chart is looking like CRAP!!!! You 'o'd earlier this time so you may have a longer LP but if me i would probably test at 12/13 dpo if AF hasnt showed, i just wouldnt be able to wait for AF!!!! Wishing you lots of luck!!!

I also have short LP so thought I'd add my two cents. First, I hope you get a BFP so this advice will be totally useless!!!! However if you don't, it's good that you're starting to chart. I was able to ID my short LP after a few months of charting. At around month 6 of charting (and TTC) I mentioned it to my gyn during my annual exam. She agreed the short LP may be due to low progesterone and/or anovulation. She agreed to start me on fertility treatment at that point. I think if I didn't have the data, I would have had to wait longer to get treatment. Sadly, the treatments haven't worked yet but I'm hopeful. And glad I'm getting care and help TTC as early as possible.

Fingers crossed you get that BFP!
