Re: sarahzoic, why did you get married SO young?

  • OH lord there you go!!
  • Loading the player...
  • I'm not married yet.
    I'm really not religious.
It's just where I'm at in this point of my life, and it's perfect for me.

    Anything else? ;]

  • ahhh not married 'yet'

    so i WAS right!

  • No, you're wrong.
The baby was not an accident, and I didn't just 'get knocked up'.
  • so wait.

you are not even 21, and had a planned pregancy with a boyfriend?

    something is fishy about this!!

  • I knew SEVERAL people who got married very young (right out of HS) and weren't knocked up or religous.

    Just saying.

Married on 3.20.2004. It took 30 month, 2 failed adoptions and IVF for our first miracle. We have had 9 foster kids since he was born and started the domestic adoption process when he was 10 month old, we had 4 failed matches in that time. After our daughter was born we brought her home and spent 2 weeks fearing we might lose her because of complications that came up. But Praise God all went through and she is ours forever! • sarah apparently you are having a biography written about you!

    you're famous chica!

  • That is correct.

Now if you want we can go back to say, about 6 months ago and have an all-day "Sarah's too young" flamefest'.  I mean, if that would be of any entertainment to you?

  • Is this just a general question or is it coming from another post?

  • The drama llama strikes again!

I actually figured it was something else (though I couldn't remember if Sarah was married or not): that her honey was military.  Military folks often get married younger, too, or so my best friend tells me.  She's in the army and a lot of her military friends got married around 20 or younger, and someone she was dating in the ranks wanted to marry her, but she wasn't ready and just didn't want to marry him anyway.

    Ditto.

and I know people who have been together for 40+ years and never got married! who cares!

  • oh pleaseeee mayday, you run with the religious types, so dont give me that!
  • We would have to consider my little man an accident as well, but we're okay with that.

  • Miss Mod, you complain about the board being boring and the best you can come up with is recycling flames to Sarah about being young and unmarried?  Yawn.

  • Sarah - this is very "2nd tri" deja vu
  • Sorry Sarah, I wasn't agreeing with anyone, I was just trying to point out that accident or not, who cares?  We're all here now dealing with, more or less, the same things.
  • I wasn't knocked up and I am not particularly religious... I was 18...
  • Janimal, don't blame Mod, she just wasn't here yet for the 2nd tri festivities. =p
  •  I got married at 21...no wasn't "knocked up"(which by the way I think is a TACKY thing to say), not really religious and not in the military. Now having a baby at 22. Everyone is different, and entitled to there own way of doing things! Don't get pissy because it took you longer to find love and get "knocked up"!!

  • Someone please show me where you have to be married to have children.
  • I got married when I was twenty, totally not knocked up, no military uniforms in sight, and in February (I'll still be 24!) I will have TWO babies! (both incidentally, who were hoped and planned for). And I'm seriously not religious. :)

  • Seriously, if DH and I could have afforded it we would have gotten married and had kids a few years ago, and I just turned 24 a few weeks ago.  It just wasn't a possibility before this.  Plus, Sarah is an absolutely adorable pregnant chick.

  • young=inexperienced and sometimes when you are 19 you think you can do it all and are ready and for some that may be true.. to me, it is incredibly risky and you have your whole life to grow up and live, so why add marriage and a kid to that equation?? It wasn't for me, but everyone is different!
  • I was married at 21....met my Dh when I was 18 and now having a baby at 23.......I will be 24 before the baby is born. Who cares about age.....as long as she is happy with her life!

It wasn't for me, but everyone is different!  Also, it could depend on how you were raised.. for me, I was raised to go to college, get a job, and be part of society before being a parent and a wife.  I also live where being young is looked down upon, I think in middle America it is more common to be young, but not here right outside NYC!!
  • Exactly... where I live most people are married and have kids by the time they are 25 or so... most before they are around 22. When I see people on here who are in their mid to late 30's it seems so weird to me- the majority of people that are my age (19) have parents who are in their late 30's to mid 40's. Most of them would be horrified if they were to have another baby now. It is just the norm where I live for people to graduate, start college, get married and have kids... I live in a really rural area which probably has alot to do with that though!
  • Huh... I'm 21 and my husband is 20. We didn't plan on this child (I wouldn't say knocked up, I would say she is a gift!), and we are both "religious". We wanted to get married before but we were focusing on school. ?

I guess my point is that I don't think being religious or having an unplanned pregnancy or being young for that matter makes a difference. My husband and I are so excited about this baby and we have never been happier. ?

  • I'm 22.  We got married in May and were already pregnant. (Obviously.)  I couldn't be happier.  Mind you we were already engaged before we got pregnant, but we went ahead and got married because we got pregnant.  I couldn't be happier!! Why does it matter, as long as you're happy!!
  • I got married when I was 17, I am now 22  (5 yrs later) and still have a great Marriage!!

WHy do you care why she got married so youg??

  • I don't know the back story but from just reading this post, I say... Leave The Poor Girl Alone.

  • What is wrong with people??? Worry about your own life and your own child and leave her alone.  Mikesbride (or whatever your name is) you think its irresponsible that she did this .  MIND YOUR OWN DAMN BUSINESS and worry about your own life...
