Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

When did you stop giving LO jar babyfood?

DS is 12 months now and I'm still giving him jarred food. I do give him table food, but not a full out meal without a jar of food. Should he be off of this by now?

When did you stop?

  • My DS only gets 1 jar a day at dinner and it is more beause of my worry about nutrition. We are stopping at his 1st birthday in a week and a half. He is starting to reject it now so we might stop sooner than that. (He gets 1 jar of Stage 3 food)

  • i made my own, but i stopped pureeing around 12 months.  she still gets applesauce, obviously, but she's been eating table food for quite some time.

  • 18 months old today and still eats all of his veggies pureed.  UGH!  We offer him the real deal, but he just hands them back to us.  He eats lots of other table foods, feeds himself the purees and will eat almost any veggie pureed, so I try not to worry about it so much.

  • 11-12 months. I wanted to keep doing it, for nutrition reasons, but he refused to eat anything pureed other than applesauce.

  • K gets a few jars (fruits/veggies) a week if she's not been eating well.  She likes them, and it makes me feel better about her nutrition.

  • My DS is 17 months and still eats jarred veggies a few times a week. He won't eat veggies in table food form, so I figure he is at least getting his nutrition.

DS started refusing purees at about 11 months.  We've been on finger foods ever since.

  • At about 11 months, DD started refusing them and would spew them out of her mouth in various ways when we could get them in. We promptly stopped at that point.

  • DS is 13 months and still gets a jar a day (more or less) in addition to Applesauce or Trader Joe's pear sauce... my pedia said they like to see the kids off purees by 18 mos. My son is picky so i try to get him to eat whatever he will take
