anyone have a toddler bed?

I need to start the transition with Matt because he is very close to jumping out of his crib.  With Jake we went straight to the twin bed but we have Matt's future twin bed in storage getting ready for the move.  I'm getting really worried that the big 'leap' is coming soon and I don't want to wait unti June.  So, if anyone has a toddler bed frame I can either rent (I'll pay for the month or two!) or can buy on the cheap, I'd love you forever!!

Please let me know since I've been scouring CL and they are more than I want to spend for such a short time.  THANKS!

  • I don't have one, but you could always try just setting the mattress on the floor if you don't find anything. I've heard of lots of people doing that when they transition, just so the kiddo doesn't feel so high off of the ground :)

  • I thought about doing that and using the crib rail to give him a feeing of being 'inside'... It may be our only option.

I don't think this kid is going to be as easy a transition as #1 was... he is going to be up off that mattress every 5 minutes!

  • we tried the crib mattress on the floor a few weeks ago for just a few nights. we were trying to see if it made a difference with her sleeping more than three hour blocks, but sadly, it did not. it made a nice sized bed on the floor though.

I have a convertible crib, if that would help.  We only used it as a regular crib, but it has the toddler rail or you can just leave the front open, I think.

We went to a mattress on the floor, but the crib mattress was just too small.  Both kids just thought it was a toy :(

You are welcome to borrow the crib for as long as you need it.

  • oh, Emer... you are sweet but I don't think I have room for another full blown crib in his current room. But, that got me wondering if this one converts.  Our old crib did but it got recalled and we are using a hand-me-down crib.  I need to do some internet research!
