Anyone else (or DH) military by ROTC commission?

DH will be commissioning next May and we'll be going to either DC or TX for his first duty station at a hospital.

Anyone else in a similar situation?

  • Hi Noah. I was wondering if anyone posted on Tcal that this board just opened. I am not in the situation just wanted to say hi. Is your DH Army?

  • Hi!  I'm Sarah.  I'm an Army wife (not a mommy yet).  My dad commissioned out of ROTC, and my bro commissioned out of USMA, so I'm somewhat familiar.  TX?  If you guys are headed to Fort Sam, PM me any questions.  My H and I were there for 4 years.  I'm over on the MN board, you can page me there.  :)

  • Yup, my DH commissioned from the college we both went to.  Luckily for me he is 3 years older and we didn't start dating until he had only one month left in Iraq right before I graduated, so I haven't been through a deployment yet but he has.  He's Army and was first stationed in TX too.

    Congratulations to your DH!

  • Yes...my DH did ROTC in college.
  • My husband is also currently in ROTC and will be commissioning at the same time! We still have no idea where we will be going after this!

  • Yes, husband and I BOTH commissioned through ROTC....but from different colleges.  I commissioned in the National Guard in 2005 and he went Active Duty in 2004.  Not to knock OCS or anything, but i definitely think ROTC is the best way to go!  I had a blast in college, and I think the experience made me a pretty well-rounded officer.

We have been to Ft. Gordon, Ft. Knox, Ft. Drum...and now back at Gordon temporarily for officer schooling.  When you say TX, do you mean San Antonio?  Because Ft. Sam Houston is awesome, and Brooke Army Medical Center would be AMAZING to work at!  You will have a blast there!  I am orginially from the DC/Baltimore area too...so if you have any questions please feel free to PM me!

  • I was commissioned through ROTC but wasn't medical. I was stationed at Ft. Lewis. My huband is Air Force and we are currently at Langley.
  • my hubby will be starting his commissioning this fall through rotc.  he enlisted right out of high school.  did basic/AIT then went to college.  he got three semesters in before he had to withdraw to deploy.  now after four  semesters out, he'll be going back.  we are excited :)  he is reserves though so he doesn't get stationed like active duty do.
