3rd Trimester

Any 39 weekers still working?

I am still working. I plan to work until either the baby comes or May 10th. May 10th seems like a strange last day but I do payroll and that's when it is done. I may even keep coming in. I have a desk job so it isn't too bad. I would have to say at this point the hardest part is the annoying employees.

  • Not 39 weeks yet, but I will be soon and will still be working.

  • I worked until 40w6d and went into labor that night. It was my plan to continue working as long as possible.  Of course, it made it much easier that I was able to just work from home (while sitting on a yoga ball, might I add!).
  • I'm almost 39 weeks. My due date is the 10th - I'm figuring that Friday the 7th will be my last day, and I'll just take vaca from there until she arrives (I was 3 days late with DS).

I work with mostly all men (I'm an engineer) and they are already getting nervous! I get at least a few "You're still here?!" comments every day! HA!

  • I'm still here too and planning to work up until delivery.  My OB won't induce until May 13 or 14th, so my last possible day would be the 11th or 12th.  I have an office/desk job too, which isn't difficult.  Getting up in the morning is the hardest part - I'd love to sleep until noon every day!

  • still working, but wishing i wasn't -- i'd so rather be snuggling my beb than listening to the guy next to me belch all afternoon.

  • Yup.  Well, I'm almost 39 weeks, anyway (38w, 4 days).  I hope to work right up until I go into labor, like I did with DD.  Although, I must say, even though I have a desk job, it's getting more physically exhausting to be here.
  • Yes unfortunately. I have scheduled myself up to 41 weeks since that is as far as my OB recommends me going. I hope it doesn't get to that point though! I am an RN and my co-workers are nervous having me working. If I go into labor, they have to replace me or work short, so they think they should have someone on call just in case!

  • 39 weeks today and it's my first official day of leave. If this were my 1st, I would still be working. I just needed some time to get things done (and sleep!) and DD is still going to DC.
  • Yes but I just started cutting my hours a little since Monday. I went from 8 hours a day to 6.
  • I'm not quite 39 weeks yet, but almost there.  I plan to work until my EDD (May 10) and beyond if LO is late.  I'll see how I feel.  My job is stressful, but not strenuous.

  • I'm almost 40 (tomorrow - Woohoo!) but have worked this week and reached the decision this afternoon to work out the rest of the week then go on leave. My dr will induce by the 7th so even if she waits that long, that'll only put me out a working week early.

For those approaching 39, it's gotten really really difficult this week to concentrate, stay on top of work, etc. If you can manage going out before 41 weeks or so, I might recommend it.

  • I started work from home last week.  I have an hour drive to work and my office is about an hour and 45 minutes from the hospital that I am delivering at.  So my doctor recommended staying home at 38 weeks.  I'm still doing work on my computer at home but almost wish I would have stayed at work.  I'm getting so anxious and impatient waiting for the baby to come.
  • I'll be 40 weeks tomorrow and I'm still at work. I'm a nurse so I'm constantly on my feet and they are so painful and swollen. I wish I could stop working now, but I want to have as much time as possible at home with LO. I have my 40 week appointment tomorrow so maybe I'll let an induction date and then I can plan to stop working. That would be fabulous!
  • I worked the day I delivered DD, which was 2 days after my due date. I will have to do that again this time around unless medically necessary to stop.

  • Today is my last day.
  • I am still working, 38 weeks on thursday. I work retail management, on my feet all day and miserable. I can't stop working for at least another week to make things work financially.
I am so sick of people asking me why i am still working and asking me when this baby is coming! Its worse than the physical pain sometimes. Just leave me alone!

  • This post does not apply to me because I am only 30 weeks 5 days pregnant, but I hopefully plan to work up until my due date. I probably will not though because I work an hour away from my house/ hospital. Luckily, I live right down the street from the hospital where I will deliver. Good luck with your decision!

I know we don't like repeat posts around here but I think a three year difference would have been acceptable.

  • I work until I have the baby...always have, always will...unless there is a reason to do otherwise.
