Does anyone else have this experience?
I go into my doctor's office, they call me from the waiting room after usually only around 2-3 minutes, then I wait in the exam room for at least 1/2 hour (on the really uncomfortable exam table). When the doctor finally comes in, she talks to me for no more than 3 minutes, max. She goes through all the usual things, weight, heartbeat, measurements, and then basically darts out of the room. I feel like I'm really inconveniencing her anytime I have a question to ask. At my office I see I different doctor each time and I've had the same experience with all of them! I'm usually a really patient person, but this is starting to drive me crazy!
Re: Waiting in the exam room...rant
Wow, you just described my Dr. appts to the T!
It is very frustrating, but I always remind myself, I am paying these people thousands of dollars, and Darn it, they WILL hear my questions and concerns!
I am hoping in the next 6 wks. the appts will not be as fast, since I am rounding the corner into delivery land... we will see.
I like my doctor, but sometimes the waiting can be a bit extreme. After having so many appointments, I know if I get a time after 10 AM that there will be a longer wait. I try to go first thing in the morning before they get backlogged.
Do they have a chair in the exam room? Mine has a comfy chair and desk for talking to you after the exam (its in a nook area in each room). If they are really late, I get off the table and read my book at the desk. The table is way to uncomfy to sit up there for too long.
DH & I hardly ever have to wait in the exam room or waiting room for our OB. She's there within a couple minutes of checking in and never makes us feel rushed.
Twice the OB's nurse wanted to talk to us most recently about birthing classes, breastfeeding etc... and the first time we went in she reviewed miscellaneous things the hospital does. And we had to wait for her in the exam room for like 20 minutes after the our regular appointment.
We figured since our doctor is timely and her nurse is only working in the clinic that it's not a big deal.
I would be really frustrated if I were in your situation. Good Luck!
I'm so lucky. My doc comes right in. If I wait for even 5 minutes he comes in and says he's sorry. Yesterday at my appointment he was delivering a baby so I did have to wait but after the nurse checked my weight ect. she had me go wait in the lobby again where the tv is. Even with that my appointment was only delayed about 25 minutes.
Now my daughters pediatrician sounds like your OB. THAT is even worse cause I have to try to entertain her in the small little room for 30 minutes or more.
