Aw, Nate's moving up at daycare! — The Bump
North Carolina Babies

Aw, Nate's moving up at daycare!

Nate starts visiting the 2 year old class next Monday, and moves up officially the following week.  I can't believe it!  The new classroom looks like a lot of fun.  They have an awesome playground area outside, and neat little play centers in the room.  I'm sure the transition will be a bit challenging for Nate, because he isn't a fan of changes like this anyway.  Plus, they start potty training in this room, so we'll be sending him in underpants or pull-ups (I have to talk to the teacher and find out how they handle it).  It's going to be a big change!

  • Yes  Go Nate!  Wow, he's growing up fast.  I have a hard time believing he's two already!

  • Wonderful news!! Does his DC split the 2yos into younger 2s and older 2s? John's does and I found the younger 2s to be much less willing to start the PT especially for boys which was frustrating since I had started working with him at home. It actually set him back for a few weeks. Once he moved up to the older 2s things got a lot better. Not trying to be a debbie downer, but I too was super excited about the PT part of the 2yo room and ended up pretty disappointed. On a brighter note, John's speech and interactive play really took off in the 2yo room. He really started acting more like a little boy and not so much like a toddler or a baby.

Hm, I'm not sure if that's how they break up the 2 year old rooms.  There are 2 rooms, so maybe that's what they do.  I'll have to ask when I go and meet with the teachers.

And no worries about being a debbie downer on the PT thing.  I'm not expecting him to miraculously PT b/c he's in this room.  We're taking the whole potty thing at his pace.  I'm in no hurry.

  • Sounds like some exciting and fun changes are ahead for Nate!
