Toddlers: 24 Months+

f/u to my paci post

I bought new paci's today - most people here seemed to agree with my decision though there were a handful who cautioned against it.

One thing I didn't mention in my OP was that we were still adjusting to the toddler bed transition and have been having a lot of trouble will that (with an exception here and there) - I should not have tried to do both at the same time.

Anyway.... I put him down for his nap and that kid had the widest grin when he saw his new nukkies.  I got the biggest kiss on my cheek!  And the best news?  He went RIGHT to sleep!  OMG.  Lord I hope he does the same thing tonight...

ETA: I don't remember the last time my house was this quiet.... off to bake cookies! Big Smile

  • I just went back to find your post. In my opinion you're doing the right thing.  Hudson still wants his paci at night and I give it to him. He loves it SO much I just don't see the harm in letting him keep it.   As someone else said, he won't be taking it with him to college.
  • I just read your op.  That sounds like a battle not worth fighting right now.  DS still uses his paci to sleep.  He's a great sleeper and we're not ready to give it up.  I have heard that for dental reasons they should give it up by 2.5-3 years old.
  • WOW that's awesome.   maybe next time you could try to cut the tip off and have him not want it anymore. we did that with Bella and it worked.  It was better for her to let go, then for us to take it away.
  • Heck yeah momma!!!!!!!!  GOOD JOB!!!!!!  You didn't need this Wink

we had originally planned to cut them but he's had several that he "broke" by chewing through and he was a mess then.  i figured it would be the same if we cut the tip.  instead, we took him to build a bear and he chose a special dragon to place the pacis inside of.  he knows where they are but that didn't help at all.  :(
