I think I experienced "false labor" today

I posted earlier about feeling different/off and having contractions (definitely real ones), but then it stopped for about an hour, then started up again...then stopped again. It's been almost 2 hours now and nothing. I'd love to have the baby today, but as long as I'm not continually feeling like that with no progress, I'm good. This morning, i thought to myself, okay, if this is labor, I'm ready...no drugs, relax, yada yada...but if this isn't real labor and it doesn't go away, I want an epidural!! LOL

Could false labor mean that real labor is coming sooner rather than later? Lie to me, girls!

  • sure it does.Stick out tongue

Or you could have false labor for weeks like I did with DS.

But my real labor with him was really short  =)

  • I hope it does!!!  Yeah, GL Star!
  • I started having those types of "symptoms" and contractions on April 1 (little joker), DS was born 4/17, so yes, I think its a sign of things coming soon, but "soon" may be up for interpretation.

If it makes you feel better, I dilated from 2 cm (at my appointment on Friday) to 9 cm between 3 and 7:30 am (when we got to the hospital), so maybe this false labor sped up the process? Also, up until the last half hour, the contractions weren't bad at all ...

  • Sorry.. I had 'false' labor for 2 weeks before DD decided to actually show up. I had contractions here and there but last two days the stronger and more consistent.

LOL I just said that to DH the other day. I was having contractions while we were out on a walk and I said "if this baby isn't coming today, I need an epidural." lol.

I dunno, but I followed your advice and did the accupressure.? Had contractions all day, saw doc at 1 and she said I'm 1 cm and 90% effaced!? She thinks it's pretty clear I'm gonna go into labor at some point, so she cancelled my c-section.? She's not going to reschedule unless the baby hasn't come by next week, but she thinks there's almost no chance of that happening! Big Smile? GL!? and Thanks!
