My crazy uncle is a pretty good photographer and he took
this photo: and published it to his blog.
The
guy who does the cartoons for the Word Jumble (which is what my grampa
is doing in that photo, that's what my uncle titled the pic on his blog), came across it in his internet search for "word
jumble" recently, emailed my uncle for permission to print it out and
use it as inspiration since he really liked the image. He said it was
"Rockwellian". He said, as payment, he would send my grandparents an
original inked drawing he'd done for the Jumble.
About a month
after that email exchange between my uncle and this guy (his real name
is Jeff Knurek), Jeff emails my uncle and says he's going to make my
grandparents the focus of an upcoming Word Jumble cartoon instead
of just sending them an original random drawing! How cool is that?!
My grandparents seriously sit around the kitchen table and work on the
Jumble, every single day. They've been doing it as long as I've known
them. It's what they do. And now they're going to forever be a part of
it! They should be in April 29th's (this Thursday) Jumble, so check it
out if you get the paper!!
That is so cool!! I don't know what the Word Jumble is, but I think it's really sweet that your grandparents do it together every day. They must be so excited!
And that's a beautiful photo too. I have great memories of my grandfather doing the crossword and jumble every day when we'd visit them, before his eyesight went bad.

I'm still just so excited for my grandparents. It is just the neatest thing for them. My grampa is 96 years old, so he keeps his mind fresh doing the jumble every day. I can't wait to see what the cartoonist does with them!

That really is so cool!!!
And I love that picture of your Grandpa!
Um, that is AWESOME.
I was just watching Antiques Roadshow and this lady had a collection of Charlie Brown (about 7 or 8) original drawings. Worth: $415,000.
That drawing is going to be a very good payment for your uncle if he gets the one made of your grandparents!
