I'm getting such a mixture of answers from people, I used to have blonde hair but dyed it brown before I was pregnant, I went to have my colour touched up as the bloned was coming through and found out I was pregnant shortly after, now I am 12 weeks, I have stayed away from fake tans-and I'm irish so I need some colour on my skin and I also want to get blonde high lights again as I HATE the brown hair, what is the story with doing these things??? Does anyone know a fake tan brand that is safe to use, and considering high lights don't actually touch the root is it safe to have them done????? and what else ie Make up creams etc should I not use!!!!
Re: Fake tans, make up, creams, hair dye???!!!!
I know you can spray tan, some tanning salons offers that service. I'm actually going next week because I have an even to attend.
as far as dying your hair, I do it and I've done it with my 1st child.
I second POF, Google is your friend. So is the nurse at your OB's office.
But to directly answer your questions, from my experience:
Full head dye: Not OK
Highlights: OK
Fake tanner: OK

Not sure about the fake tan.
My doctors have always said hair color is fine. I choose to wait until the second trimester for peace of mind.
I use the same makeup while pregnant that I do when I'm not pregnant.
do your research, and talk to your OB/MW about it!
avoid sunless tanners that contain the active ingredient, dihydroxyacetone (DHA). there's not enough research on it but if it can be absorbed into the skin completely and it enters the bloodstream, it will be passed to the fetus. and if that could happen, it could be dangerous to a fetus in the 1st tri.
my OB rather me stay away from it all together.
