we all do the coupons, buying generic, not eating out,use the library instead of buying books etc....
what about some of the weirder or more creative ways you save $$ ??
i'll start:
cut dryer sheets in half, use conditioner to shave (dh does this with his face, too!), make my own foam soap (use foam dispensers and mix soap and water). we keep a water pitcher in the kitchen and dump our leftover water cups and the dog bowl in the pitcher, then water some plants when it's full. we try to use the plastic bags from kids packaging or even toilet paper wrapping to wrap diapers in when we are on the go and save the heb ones for dog poop. (the bags that are on everything you seem to purchase--every kid thing seems to come in--you know they aren't really bags). i cut my tubes of makeup when they are almost empty and use a qtip to get makeup out--it lasts a few more weeks!
i need some more ideas....

Re: money saving tips
We use the grocery store bags as trash can liners. Haven't bought trash bags in years.
I haven't bought facial cleanser in years either because I've got a huge stash of travel-sized bliss foaming facial cleanser from staying in W hotels when I travel. Stuff is awesome. I almost never buy lotion either but the little travel-sized lotions don't go as far so I go through those faster.
DH got a library card in a neighboring city because their CD collection is really easy to search. The one in our town kinda sucks. He gets about 10 CDs at a time - good stuff too, new releases, etc. That alone has saved him so much money. Wait, it's all going into buying vinyl now, nevermind...
We just bought a reel lawnmower so that is going to cut down on lawnmower maintenance (and air pollution and noise pollution and lots of user frustration hopefully) so I'll let you guys know how that one goes. Kind of excited about it actually.
I am OBSESSED with getting frequent flier miles. I sign up for every single promotion there is to get bonus miles. I use the miles credit card. If at all possible I shop online through aadvantageeshopping.com to get extra miles and go to restaurants that give extra miles. Even our electric company gives us double bonus miles. We've spent the miles on 1st class tickets to Europe (granted, miles would have gone farther if we would have gone economy but I couldn't resist and it was AWESOME), trip for DH to come visit me in NYC while I was working, hotel nights, and now I've got enough saved so we can go to Europe again (economy this time) as well as roundtrips w/in the US. We definitely wouldn't be able to afford that travel w/o the ff miles.

the reelmower! we just got one a few weeks ago, too. dh seems to love it.
LOVE the W products! i raided the cart last time i was there
i know there are more great ideas out there.....
I shop through sites like Mypoints.com and Bing to get gift cards and cash back for online purchases. I also buy restaurant gift certificates through Restaurant.com. I hoard free samples and travel-sized items and use them when I don't feel like spending the money on my normal lotions, full-size toothpaste, etc. I used to buy an Entertainment Book, but I didn't buy one this year because we didn't use the 2009 one too much. Right now I'm loving Groupon, Fanforce and Living Social, but sometimes I think I spend more money than I would otherwise because they have such good deals. Whenever I buy something online, I search the Internet to see if I can find a coupon code. I buy most of DD's clothes at consignment sales. We cloth diaper and I BF so that's saving us a ton of money right now. I also plan on making babyfood. I get free magazines through freebizmag.com. We earn points with our credit cards and I use them to purchase gift cards.
That's all I can think of right now. I'll post more later if I think of anything else.
My husband and I take surveys online through erewards. We cash in our "erewards money" for GameStop gift cards, so that he doesn't have to spend money on his videogame habit
That's the best I can think of right now. Have you ever heard of "The Tightwad Gazette?" That book is supposed to be chock full of unusual ways to save money!
