anyone have experience with the mini pill?

I have one friend that took it and stopped because of the mood swings it caused. I have to confess, I hope the mood swings I am having are because of this wicked pill. Anyone else take it and have weird experience with it? I don't know if I am truly this bitchy or if it's the hormones making me act like a nut. Just curious if anyone else was dealing with it?

It's not the first time I've heard this, but I don't know it firsthand. I opted for a mirena. I will say having reacted to my BCP, that mood swings, etc.. do not surprise me.

I have a friend who just got knocked up on it. She didn't have any mood swing issues (or at least never mentioned any to me).

ETA: I should add she was in the process of weaning her daughter when she got pregnant on it but still! She was nursing a couple times a day still.

I don't remember having mood swings when I was on it, but I did get pregnant (it ended in an m/c). Regular BC pills make me crazy hormonal though.

I don't really remember having any mood swing issues....although my DH may say otherwise Smile

I was on it for about 10 months.

I was on it and it made me a total ***. I decided to go with the paraguard for a hormone-free option. Love it so far.

I've been on it for about 4 months now and so far so good. As someone else said though, my DH may think differently.

I took it for 3 months (not to prevent pregnancy as that's not an issue) but to try and regulate my horrendous AF.... anyway I seriously considered taking the remaining pills and throwing them at my OB (that could have been a mood swing

I was miserable... had tons of breakthrough bleeding despite taking them at the exact same time every day and never missing one... my skin had NEVER looked that bad, not even as a teen.... I didn't exactly have much interest in sex to begin with because of nursing but whatever shred was there was definitely squashed by the mini-pill and to say I was irritable is quite an understatement...

I was so mad at my OB - he promised me that there wouldn't really be any of these side effects because of what it is... I've had lots of trouble with other BCP's in the past (mainly with nausea and headaches). The good news is I was never nauseated or had headaches with the mini-pill but I did have every other freakin' thing go wrong. Oh, it never affected my supply either so that's good....

Needless to say I threw those d@mn things away.

I took it for a while, I didn't have any problems with mood swings or any other side effects really. However I was terrible at remembering to take it at the same time daily, and since there's not near as much room for error as even with a regular BCP, I stopped and got a Mirena IUD. LOVE it, it's working out great for (forgetful) me.

I took it for about 9 months. I didn't realize the problems it was causing until I quit taking it. I saw my OB about possible PPD and was given medication but it didn't seem to work at all. I was not feeling any better. I quit taking the mini pill a few months later to prepare for TTC #2 and noticed a huge change. I instantly felt better. I was like all of the PPD syptoms went right out the window. I didn't need any meds and felt like my old self again. There is no way I will be going back on the mini-pill after #2.
