BM to formula - Poop?
Does formula cause constipation or harder poop than BM? Is there anything I can do about it besides trying to give a bottle of water? Can you mix the formula with more water per scoop than the instructions?

The added iron in the formula tends to constipate them. I would not give a child under 6 months old water or add extra water to their bottle. If you have started solids, you can give them pears or prunes to help out. Or mix oatmeal with pear juice instead of formula. As a last resort, I used to put karo syrup in DS' bottles.
I also found that Good Start formula was the least constipator for my kiddos.
We struggled a lot with constipation once making the switch to formula. C was 6 months at the time and already starting solids so we gave her a container of prunes every morning until we stopped formula. On days she seemed to have a particularly tough time she'd get prunes for dinner as well.
ETA: I would not use more water with the formula as you don't want to dilute and deprive her of nutrients. I've heard of babies who suffered failure to thrive when it wasn't mixed correctly.
Thanks for the info. I called the pedi this morning and the nurse suggested giving her no more than an ounce of juice per day.
We just went for her 4 month appt on Friday and she wasn't having any problems. Her pedi had already said it would be okay to give her water in a bottle. She is drinking Soy formula, because she couldn't keep the regular formula down.
