Ugh - have to call the home warranty already

Woke up this morning at 4 to find that we have no power to our bedroom and the spare room next to us. We do have power in our master bath though. DH went down to check the breaker and couldn't get it.

He also thinks we have a leak in the plumbing in our bathroom.

We haven't been here a month yet. Sheesh.

Re: Ugh - have to call the home warranty already

  • The joys of home ownership!  Good luck with the warranty company.  I found they are nothing, but a scam that makes it impossible to get good service and forces you to deal with people you would not otherwise allow in your house.

  • What do you mean by "couldn't get it" in ref. to the breaker?  If it was tripped, it would be obvious.  You could go ahead and trip that breaker for the bedrooms.

Normal that the bath would be fine....it *should* be GFCI protected on a dedicated circuit.  Any chance that your bedroom is wired with the kitchen or garage or outside GFCI's?  (like if one of those was an afterthought and some bonehead electrician just piggybacked onto that circuit).

May be a loose connection in one of the switches/outlet - especially if they did something electrical (new switches/fixtures) right before closing and it was crappy craftsmanship.

  • Yes the breaker. We reset it and nothing. DH thinks the whole thing went bad.

  • I hear ya. I'm having some issues w/a couple of outlets & the light in my master bath and need to call.

Ha! My DH is an electrician, so if we did live closer I would've sent him right over! ;)
