Private childbirth classes?

I really want to take a childbirth class so I have an idea of what to expect. But I have a stupid job with stupid hours (that often change at the drop of a hat) that I have to stay at until pretty much my due date (8/29). All of the classes I've found are during hours that I work, and they're like 6-8 weeks long, so it's not like I could even just take a day off work to go to one class or wait until after I go on maternity leave.

Does anyone know of someplace on the north side (I live in Ravenswood) that would let me schedule a private childbirth class during a time when I AM free? (Or know of any that take place on Saturday?) Even if it's only a 1 day seminar, it would still be better than flying blind.

Re: Private childbirth classes?

  • My DH and I had a private class led by a RN who works at CDH in labor/delivery.  She was great.  We actually went to her house in Geneva.  I know you live in the city so that might be a little far for you.  Let me know if you are interested and I can give you her information.

i take prenatal yoga there and i know that Jenny (the owner) offers a Comfort Measures class.  i think it only goes for 1 day, but i'm not sure.

  • Thanks, ladies. It never occurred to me to check my own hospital for classes (duh). Swedish Covenant has all day saturday classes as well and since I'm delivering there the $40 fee is waived. Huzzah!

    Thanks again!
