I'm in desparate need of some inspiration and tonage... what has worked well for you in the past that I can still attempt while preggers? If it's a weird activity that no one's heard of, please describe or post a picture if you have one!
Squats, lunges and step ups. I do these often to stay tone. Also do plenty of cardio because nothing will burn fat like cardio. The exercises just strengthens and tones the muscle but they won't burn fat.

Ditto. I also take spin class regularly so it helps keep my thighs/legs toned.
I walk on the treadmill on a fairly high incline, squeezing my bum-works and boy can you feel it....If you dont have a treadmill or access to one, finding an area with hills to walk up and down is great too!!
Pilates has always kept my thighs and butt tone! Like everyone else says, you still gotta do cardio. The Pilates just gives them an extra boost and keeps them more firm.

I second the motion. I am a spin instructor and my legs have never been so resistant to weight gain in my life! In fact, when I was a teenager, I used to carry weight in my hips, thighs and butt. Now, these are my most slender, muscular areas. I highly recommend you try it (it's safe as long as you take it easy and keep your heart rate down).
Running and cycling for me. I only do strength work in the winter, which is my offseason for triathlon. Lunges and squats are probably the best, in terms of what you can do without equipment. You need the cardio, though to burn off the fat layer.

These work well, but as pp said, without cardio these don't help much to burn fat and show results.
